Roczen is aiming for Anaheim return
By Sean Lawless on 24th Dec 17
Life definitely started off a bit rough, he said. At the same time it was kinda interesting going through the whole process of getting back and putting in a lot of work while I was off. It was really tough watching those guys race and doing their thing.
There was very, very little gain in the very beginning. Everything took a long time. It was the longest break Ive ever had. We definitely went through some tough time but at the same time it actually showed me a little bit of a different life. All Ive ever known was racing so I definitely recharged my batteries.
In the riding footage accompanying the interview Roczen looks smooth and fast but hes had to adapt his style to take into account his injury.
Once I started riding again it was very tough even then because I had to get used to a wrist that pretty much has zero movement. Even though Ive had a lot of therapy to it theres not a whole lot of movement coming as of right now but I adjusted to it well. Theres no room for negativity or failure in my head. Im riding great and I feel great.
I have a great programme going with the people I surrounded myself with. I love every single day Im riding so Im ready to go back racing. I know there are still a few doubters out there who dont think I can come back and win again but I will definitely prove them wrong.
Whether I win or not Im just going to enjoy myself for a little bit but my focus is definitely on winning championships. I want to win, I want to win bad. Im in great shape and I have a great team behind me so I dont see why not.
