A separated shoulder suffered in the off-season saw the 450-class debut of SmarTop/Bullfrog Spas/Honda rider Shane McElrath delayed until last weekend in Orlando, Florida.
The SoCal transplant opened a lot of eyes by grabbing the holeshot in his first-ever 450 heat race and leading much of it only to finish an eventual second to defending champion Eli Tomac. In the main, McElrath didn't fare as well with a 17th, but he is excited and hopeful about how his 450SX career will unfold. We caught up with him this afternoon to talk about his first race in the big show.
