British Supercross Grand Prix cancelled

The 2026 FIM World Supercross Championship will not be coming to Birmingham after SX Global confirmed that the British GP has been cancelled.
The planned October 10 event at Alexander Stadium has been scrapped as the promoter works to secure what it describes as “significant new investment” to strengthen the championship and support its next phase of global growth.
The announcement follows recent speculation surrounding the future of the series, with SX Global saying that discussions with potential investors are progressing positively.
However, the company says that completing an investment process of this scale requires time and due diligence, forcing it to make what it describes as “short-term operational measures”.
The first – and potentially most significant – casualty is the British GP.
“We recognise this will be disappointing news for our fans, teams, riders and partners, particularly in the UK, where World Supercross has built a passionate and important following,” said SX Global in a statement. “This decision has not been taken lightly.”
It leaves the 2026 World Supercross Championship without its planned British round, which was due to bring the series to Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium on October 10.
The cancellation will come as a major disappointment to British fans, particularly after the championship had established a growing UK following and featured a strong British contingent.
SX Global says its immediate priority is now to complete the investment process, support its teams and partners and position World Supercross for long-term growth.
Ticket holders do not need to take any action. SX Global says Ticketmaster will contact all ticket holders directly within 24 hours, with refunds automatically returned to the original method of payment. The promoter says refunds should be received within 14-21 days.
The championship’s teams have also issued a joint statement backing the series and its future.
“We are encouraged by the efforts being made by SX Global to position the Championship for the future,” the teams said. “We all believe in World Supercross and know there is a global audience for the sport.”
The statement added that the teams remain committed to World Supercross and “will be ready to race when the Championship returns”.
What happens next for the championship remains unclear, with SX Global yet to announce details of the proposed investment or a timetable for the completion of the process.
For now, though, Birmingham is off the calendar – leaving World Supercross facing a period of considerable uncertainty as it attempts to secure its next chapter.
