Gajser Grounded
By Team TMX on 20th Feb 23
Team HRC’s Tim Gajser, the reigning MXGP world champion, was forced to miss Argentina’s opening round of the FIM World Championship after breaking his right femur during an Italian series race held at Arco di Trento.
The 26-year-old Slovenian was injured when he mistimed a jump and slammed the ground hard. It’s since been confirmed that Gajser has undergone surgery although the timeline for his recovery remains unknown – it’s likely he’ll miss a good chunk of the MXGP series before he's able to return though.
Bizarrely, the accident happened almost five years to the day he fractured his jaw at Mantova in a similarly horrific Italian Championship crash.
