New compact format for 2021 FIM SuperEnduro World Championship

In light of the ongoing situation and restrictions relating to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic, series promoter ABC Communication has reached an agreement with the Hungarian organiser to host all three rounds of the 2021 FIM SuperEnduro World Championship at the Papp Laszlo Sportarena in Budapest from 1 to 4 April.
The first round will take place on Thursday 1 April, with three finals planned for the Prestige and Junior classes, plus two finals for the European Cup. After this initial encounter, the organiser will then use the following rest day to make changes to the track, ready for the final two rounds on the subsequent days.
Saturday 3 April will see round two played out on the modified course, again with three finals for the Prestige and Junior classes, whilst the European Cup will reach its climax on the same day.
The 2021 FIM SuperEnduro World Championship will come to a close on Sunday 4 April, with the qualified riders from the previous day automatically transferring through to the two finals that will ultimately decide the medal winners in the two main classes.
The FIM and ABC Communication would like to express their warm thanks to the Hungarian organiser who has accepted the huge challenge of delivering this exciting new compact format championship.
Whilst all parties are delighted to be able to make this announcement today, the situation relating to the pandemic will continued to be monitored closely, such that any changes that may be necessary will be made to ensure the absolute safety of all involved, and so that all relevant health regulations are fully respected.

It has not been easy, as for almost a year we have been governed by health restrictions. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Polish and German organisers who have been looking for solutions to offer some racing.
After many months of negotiations with the government and the Budapest arena, Adam Hadobas decided to take up the challenge of organising three rounds over one weekend with the number of spectators limited of course, and which remains to be confirmed.
The riders will certainly respond, and to allow as many fans as possible to follow this 2021 edition, a live broadcast via EnduroTV will of course be put in place.
FIM Sports Director Jean-Paul Gombeau: Once again we are humbled by the huge efforts of both our promoter and the local organiser to find a workable solution in what remains a challenging period for all stakeholders.
The planned multi-round format at a single venue is a good option and will provide the best possible opportunity for the 2021 FIM SuperEnduro World Championship to take place in a safe and controlled manner.
ABC Communication and the local organiser have to be congratulated for the work they have done to date, and I send my best wishes on behalf of the FIM that it will be a successful series for everyone who is involved.
