Jaime Busto finally got his first win of the X-Trial season at a spectacular and demanding round in Saint-Denis, breaking Toni Bou’s early stranglehold on the series and shaking up the championship fight.

The GASGAS ace rode with composure all night, edging Bou (Repsol Honda) by five marks after the 16-time world champ slipped up in the decisive fifth section. Bou’s five opened the door, and Busto nailed a clean to seal it – his first victory since recovering from a heavy Andorra crash earlier in the year.

Bou settled for second, while teammate Gabriel Marcelli claimed third, four points back, after a string of maximums mid-final ended his podium challenge. Beta’s Hugo Dufrese impressed on home soil with a strong early showing, topping Q2 before fading to fourth in the final with 30 marks.

The rest of the top seven featured Jack Peace (Sherco), Matteo Grattarola (Beta), Harry Hemingway (Beta) and Benoit Bincaz (Electric Motion).

With three rounds down, Bou still leads the world championship standings on 52 points, but Busto now sits second on 44, just ahead of Marcelli with 42 - setting up a tense mid-season showdown. Hemingway is still the top Brit in the series, ranked fourth on 17 points with Peace fifth with 10.

“I’m really happy with this win, especially after a tough start to the year,” said Busto. “I felt great all night and the atmosphere was incredible.”

The next stop for the 2025 X-Trial World Championship is Ponte di Legno, Italy, with back-to-back rounds on December 12-13.
