DOUGIE Lampkin made his competition debut on the all-new Vertigo machine last weekend in the Santigosa Three Day Trial staged near Girona, Spain, a very similar type event to the Richmond clubs Reeth Three Day.

He was in contention for the win throughout the duration but was unable to stop new Repsol Montesa signing Jaime Busto easing ahead on the final day to win the trial after Junior rider Miquel Gelabert had led on Friday/Saturday.

It was a really good day for Vertigo who had five pre-production machines entered and all came through with flying colours. One was ridden by Vertigo owner Manel Jane and another by Francesc Moret who finished in fourth place.

James Dabill rode the third and final day – after representing Britain in the X-Trial des Nations on Friday, to make six Vertigos at the finish.

Dougie said: "I'm happy enough to finish second to Jaime and two Vertigos in the top four is a great result plus all five bikes proved 100 per cent reliable.

"Personally it was brilliant to get in three full days of riding before the Scottish Six Days as I haven't ridden in an event since the Scott.”
