Beta UK’s Harry Hemingway claimed his first-ever premier class Trial GB British Championship title with a dominant performance at the final round of the five-stop tour at Geddington in Northamptonshire. The 18-year-old Yorkshireman overcame illness and his competition to wrap up the title in fine style, taking the win by 18 marks ahead of Billy Green (Scorpa) with championship rival Jack Peace (Sherco) placing third after consistently posting identical scores on the second and third laps.

Despite feeling under the weather, Hemmingway concentrated on the task at hand and, using creative lines and sheer bloody-mindedness in the brutally bruising sections, edged his way clear to secure the title in style.

“I’m over the moon but, honestly, it’s not really sunk in yet,” said Hemingway at the finish. “It’s not been an easy couple of weeks as I’ve had a stinking cold – there’s a fair bit of a bit about but it didn’t really affect my riding so I can’t really complain. I got the job done today with what I would describe as a great ride even if I say so myself. I’m happy, massive thanks to my mum, dad, Ben, George, Beta UK and everyone around me for all their support.”

Many of the riders described the sections as being at the upper end and it was definitely a tough trial at the venue that will host the Trial GP of GB in 2025.

Jamie Galloway took the win on the day to punctuate his title winning season

In the Trial 2 class, Jamie Galloway had already done enough in earlier rounds to be crowned champion but just so there was no doubt who was best in class, he went out and rode a brilliant trial which included a clean second lap and even the third only took a solitary dab from the Scot. Duncan MacColl was second with super-stylish Hugo Jervis making it a Beta UK 2-3 behind the TRRS star.

Tom Affleck (Andy Metcalfe Scorpa) had a fantastic day in Northamptonshire and shook off a strong challenge from Dan Thorpe (JSM GASGAS) to claim victory in the Expert class. Championship leader Luke Walker (Sherco) placed third on the day ahead of Tyler Rendall (Vertigo) and Brad Bullock (Beta).

Final series standings for all classes will follow once the provisional results have been made official and the worst scores have been dropped.
