more than 8,000 has been raised so far in memory of off-road legend Martin Lampkin, who died in early April.

The Lampkin family is overwhelmed by the generosity shown by people from around the world, who have made donations to the two charities chosen in memory of the 1975 world champion.

Just over £4,500 has been raised to date for Manorlands Hospice in Keighley, where Martin was cared for during his final days.

This comprises donations collected on the day of his funeral and cheques sent afterwards.

Included in the total is a sizeable donation from Sheffield Arena where Martin and his long-term business partner Neil Crosswaite organised World Indoor Trial events for more than 20 years.

Limited edition commemorative metal tags, manufactured by Hope Technology and financially supported by Steve Chicken at SCP Investments, have raised over £3,500 for The Christie Hospital where Martin received treatment.

The total includes a donation by the FIM in recognition of Martin's contribution to the sport of trials and his many achievements.

With more than £8,000 having already been donated to these two personal and worthy causes, Martin's widow Isobel and sons Dougie and Harry would like to express their thanks for everyone's incredible generosity and for the many kind messages they have received.
