Report: British Ladies Trials Championship - Final round

Southend and District MCC hosted the final round of the Acklams Beta British Ladies and Girls Trials Championship at a very cold Poles Wood, Kelvedon Hatch, Essex on Sunday. A total of 13 adults and 20 Girls started the three-lap, 12-section event in very dry conditions.

The opening three hazards were steady for the Ladies Championship riders on Route A, and there were mainly cleans up to section seven, which took fives from all apart from Emma Bristow (MRS Sherco), who went clean here on all three visits.

Bristow did suffer on section eight where she had a dab on te first lap, and then cleaned it next time through, but then had a five on the hazard on her final visit. On the third lap the best score was a two by both Becky Cook (TRS) and Louise Alford (JST Cloburn Gas Gas).

Section 12 on the first lap did cost Bristow a five while Cook and Jess Bown (Birkett Treadshop Scorpa) went clean. Donna Fox (Sherco) escaped for a dab a dab while Alford and Victoria Payne (Active MRS Sherco) both had threes here.

Despite riding injured from a spill during practice Bristow's score for the first lap was just seven marks equaled by Cook. Fox followed on 11 marks with Lincoln rider Louise Alford on 25 and Donna Fox on 26.

Alicia Robinson (Top Trial Team Beta) took a fourth win of the season in Youth A at this final round with a score of 34 marks over Megan Savage. Megan was let down with a poor first lap of 25 marks compaired to Robinson on 14.

One of the notable riders missing from this class was second in the Championship Gabby Witham, who was due having a leg operation. Her absence caused her to drop from second to third in the class Championship, though we're told that everything with the operation went well.

In the Ladies Intermediate Championship Bethany Dunning and Catherine Alford both won four wins rounds. Alford claimed the win at Poles Wood with a ten mark advantage over Dunning. Both girls found section nine tough on the first lap having fives punched on their cards then Alford took dabs on the second and third laps while here rival clocked up two cleans but Bethany lost out on sections seven and eight on the final lap with two threes compared two cleans for Alford.

Loughborough's Shannon Butler took the 20 Championship points on Sunday as the only entry in the Youth Inter A class.

Ella Doherty the Manx girl was 1 mark behind Olivia Brooksbank on the first lap but sorted things out with a second lap of just one dab – on section sis, then had a clean third lap to finish on a score of 15 followed by Olivia on 26, Sarah Bell 35 and Hannah Moore on 41.

Kaytlyn Adshead had sufficient points in hand to ride up a class leaving Daisy Parsons to have an easy ride to win the Girls C class. Daisy's first lap of four consisted of dabs on sections three and four and a two on section six. Her second lap also had two dabs on sections three and four, then managed a clean on section six. On the final lap she went round for a dab on section six to finish on a total of seven, followed by Sophie Bailey on 28, Emily Copp 50 and Amelia Mayhew on 65.

In the two non-championship classes Jo Pope took a win in the Ladies Sportsperson class on 36 marks from Jenny Crabtree on 65. In the Girls Sportsperson class Libby Martinez had a five mark lead over Tasha Fairhurst to finish on 25 marks to 30 for Tasha.
