Take a look: Stuart Rose’s Francis Barnett
By Team TMX on 8th Jun 16
This is Stuart Roses Francis Barnett trials bike which was built by an ex-Comerfords fitter about 15 years ago and is based on a 1959 Falcon 8 complete with matching frame and engine number.
The frame has been altered and narrowed extensively around the seat area and under the engine.
Its tank had an inch and a half cut out of the middle and re-welded, the engine is 10e bottom-end with a 32a 250 top-end and a four-speed competition gearbox.
The forks tubes and bottom legs are Honda.
Stuart says it was a nice little bike but just a bit scruffy, so he had all the paintwork grit-blasted and twin-pack painted, wheels rebuilt with stainless steel spokes and Michelin tyres and tubes.
Stuart upgraded the shockers, all cables, drive chain and clutch plates.
New foot-rest brakets and sump guard brakets were welded on and a new bash plate made.
Most of the bespoke parts were done by Ian Peberdy at Yamoto, so a big thank you goes to him.
Stuart is well happy with the outcome but is not sure if he wants to get it mucky now.
