Telford tribute to Mart
By Team TMX on 25th Jan 17
A tribute to Mart will be a highlight of this years Telford Show now just three weeks away on February 18/19.
Six all-time legends of the trials world have each confirmed their attendance at the show to participate on stage in recalling their memories of Martin Lampkin, the first world trials champion, who tragically died in April last year. Never before have they all appeared together.
The great Sammy Miller, a 10-time British champion, will be joined by '74 Scott Trial winner Rob Edwards, former Ossa factory No.1 Dave Thorpe, two-time Euro champ Mick Andrews, Mart's older brother Sid and three-time world champion Vrjo Vesterinen.
The six legends will be interviewed by one of the best motorcycling commentators of all time – Jack Burnicle.
Show consultant Alan Wright has arranged for at least four of Mart's actual bikes to be on show beside a massive mural in the stage area.
The machines include his BSA C15 on which he first rode national events from 1966, his 128cc Alta Suzuki that he rode for one year only in 1970,
his 370cc SWM on which he won the UK crown in 1980 and one of his championship-winning Bultaco Sherpas.
The final timings for each day will be in the show programme, given to visitors on arrival at the International Centre at Telford.
