Toni Bou dominates the opening round of the 2024 X-Trial World Championship at Barcelona in Spain to record his 80th X-Trial victory and take an early lead in the series. Joining him on the podium were fellow Spaniards Jaime Busto and Gabriel Marcelli.

““I am really very satisfied with this victory because it is the best way to start my title defence and I did it by leading throughout,” said Bou afterwards. “The Final was very difficult as you would expect from a historic event like Barcelona. I felt good right from the start of the night, and my only mistake was in Section One of the Final. But from the second to the fourth section I built a lead to confirm the win.”

After a tough start in the opening round, Britain’s Toby Martyn had a much better second qualifying round to move from eighth to sixth in the overall rankings for the night.

Berta Abellán won the fourth edition of the Barcelona Women’s Trophy ahead of three-times winner Emma Bristow and Italy’s Andrea Sofia Rabino.

Round Two of the X-Trial World Championship Round takes place at Chalon-Sur-Saône in France on March 15.
