TrialGB kicks off with two wins for Jack Peace
By Team TMX on 16th Jun 25

The revamped, and now almost all-encompassing, ACU TrialGB series got underway in Lancashire as Inch Perfect hosted the opening weekend of the four-stop tour for two days of British Championship trials action. Changing weather and devilishly tricky sections made it a tough two days for the competitors in The Trial GB, Trial GB Women, Trial2, Trial2 Women, Trial Expert, Youth A and Youth B riders.
Sherco’s Jack Peace took a double victory in the headlining TrialGB class as he led home the Hemingway brothers – Harry and George – on both days of competition.
On day one, Jack’s winning margin was six marks and it’s arguable that the manmade Section 12 made all the difference as Peace was the only rider to clean it – and he did it twice! A five and a questionable two for Beta’s Harry Hemingway in the same section added seven to his scorecard which was more than the difference on the day. George Hemingway ended up a safe third ahead of Sherco’s Harry Turner, Jack Dance (GASGAS) and the returning Toby Martyn (Electric Motion).
Beta’s Alice Minta did a demolition job on the TrialGB Women class as she finished the opening day for a loss of 34 – 19 marks clear of the three-way tie for second. Kaytlyn Adshead (Sherco) got the nod on that one beating Alicia Robinson (Beta) and Nikita Smith (GASGAS) on the tie-breaker. Smith was unfortunate not to claim second, as she entered the final section in front of the TrialGP Women riders but a disappointing five cost her a spot on the podium.
It was tight at the top in Trial2 as Scot Duncan MacColl just about held off Jack Spencer (Beta) at the head of the field. MacColl ended the trial a mark ahead of Spencer with FIM Trial3 star Harison Skelton (Scorpa) placing third on his 125cc machine.
It was as close in the Trial2 Women class as Scorpa’s Summer Peters nabbed it by a single mark from Holly Dixon. Sherco’s Matilda Arbon secured third with some determined riding.
The Trial Expert class is normally a close-run thing, but an amazing second lap for Beta-mounted Bradley Bullock saw him edge clear of the competition. Josh McParland (Beta) secured second place after leading at the end of lap one with the ever-smiling Tom Affleck (Scorpa) a safe third.
Bill Reeves (TRRS) was solid in the Youth A class, taking a fine win ahead of Max Dance (GASGAS). Sherco’s Ollie Gundry just about held off Mason Vasey (GASGAS) and Max Golla (GASGAS) to secure the final spot on the podium.
Down in Youth B, George Jones (Sherco) was top dog topping both laps to claim a dominant victory. Koby Smith (Beta) secured second ahead of Edwyn James (TRRS).
The opening day was gruelling enough, but the riders had to prepare themselves to do it all again for Round Two of the eight-round championship.
Jack Peace was on fire from the off on Day Two, ending the first lap for a loss of eight as George Hemingway and Jack Dance tied for second on 16. Defending champion Harry Hemingway had a difficult first lap, losing frustrating fives in Section 8 and 16 to end up on 20. Harry’s second lap was sublime though, and much more careful with his marks, ended the second lap with a score of five which was four better than Peace managed. However, the damage was done and a no-thrills lap with plenty of cautious dabs for Peace got the job done – the Yorkshireman claiming a stunning TrialGB double in neighbouring Lancashire. A mid-lap funk cost George Hemingway second place as he yielded to his big brother with Dance, Martyn and Turner rounding out the top six.
Minta was magnificent in the TrialGB Women class with two solid laps that put her well clear of Adshead and Robinson once more. Smith was fourth once again with Sophie Bailey finishing fifth once again.
The Trial2 class saw a repeat of the day one podium as MacColl, Spencer and Skelton finished first second and third. Skelton came under pressure form Sam Connor with the pair ending the day locked on 38 marks in that old youth versus experience battle. Skelton got it on the most cleans tie-breaker.
A blinding second lap for Dixon saw her secure Trial2 Women victory ahead of Peters and Dixon as the three stomped their authority on the class. It’s sure to be close between these three all year with Brianna King (GASGAS) and Seren Walters (Beta) looking to land on the podium too.
In the Trial Expert class, winner Bullock once again dominated as Charlie Smith (Vertigo) moved through the pack to claim the runner-up spot with a fantastic second lap. Affleck was his rock-steady self, edging Luke Walker (Sherco) in their fight for third. Tyler Rendall (TRRS) did look to have second place locked up but an unfortunate loss of marks in the final three sections saw him slide to sixth behind Sean Robinson (GASGAS).
Reeves took a second Youth A win ahead of Dance while Golla joined them on the podium after getting the better of Gundry and Vasey. The battle for fifth was tight with Archie Bremner (Sherco) and Harrison Lightfoot (Beta) right in the mix.
Day one runner-up Koby Smith secured a fine victory in Day Two in the Youth B division. Edwyn James also improved his ranking by one to secure second ahead of day one winner George Jones who tied on 25-marks with Zachary Sellers (Beta) but beat him on the tie-break.
The series now heads to Hookwood in Surrey on the weekend of June 28/29. Hookwood is a well-established venue with a mixture on natural and man-made obstacles. Based near Guildford, the postcode you need to get there is KT24 6ET. For more information check out the series’ all-new website – www.acutrialgb.org.uk.
