Trials Torque: Gr-eight dates for S3 hopefuls

THE 2017 ACU S3 Parts National Clubman Championships will take place over eight rounds.
And there's an early start with Stratford upon Avon MCC hosting round one in just four weeks' time with their Colmore Cup trial, which will take place on Sunday, February 12.
Regs are out now for the event which will start and finish at The College Arms, Upper Quinton, Warwicks, CV378SG.
Start time will be a bright and early 9am in order to get finished before dark.
The S3 Parts Championship is the most popular of all the ACU trials series, as it utilises many of the most popular traditional trials in the calendar with long, single-lap road-based routes containing around 40 sections incorporated into several different groups.
In 2017 the first three events will be Midlands trials, followed by a trip into Wales for the Powys Trophy and finishing with five of the best Northern trials including another trip into Wales for the Easter Monday Lomax Cup near Llangollen.
There's a bit of a gap then of some three months before the Westmorland club's Astley Trophy and then another two months until the final round which will be the Newcastle club's revitalised Travers Trophy.
All the events stand on their own two feet and three-figure entries will be the norm.
The 2016 series was won by Sherco-mounted James Fry who totally dominated, winning every round he contested.
James opted out of the final round, The Travers, which was won by another James – James Stones, who continued Sherco's winning ways in the only round he contested.
The Sherco rout saw the Spanish marque fill the top three Championship places with Luke Walker and 2015 S3 Champ Chris Pearson following James Fry home.
