Trials Torque: Luke looks Part as S3 heads to Powys
By John Dickinson on 15th Mar 17
THE third round of the ACU S3 Parts British National Trials Championship takes place this Sunday (19 March) with the Mid Wales Centres Powys Trophy Trial.
Luke Walker is currently leading the 2017 series with a maximum 40 points after the opening two rounds, the Colmore Cup and Wallace Cup.
Fellow Sherco rider and reigning champ James Fry – who won all the rounds he contested last year – is currently in second, some 12 marks adrift of Luke.
There's plenty of opposition around, including James Stones, former multi-champ Chris Pearson, British Experts champ Tom Minta, John Crinson, Richard Timperley, World Ladies champ Emma Bristow and Enduro ace Tom Sagar, having one of his rare trials outings.
Not eligible for S3 Parts Championship points and riding the Elite class hoping to bag the Welsh Trophy are Dan Thorpe, Sam Haslam, Ross Danby and Iwan Roberts.
The Clubman class is a Championship in its own right this year and is currently led by John Cowley on 30 points with Darren Wasley six points back.
This class is wide open and anyone could bag the 20 points including Philip Houghton or Dave Clinkard.
The organising Mid-Wales Centre are looking for a few more observers, so if you can help out it would be much appreciated.
You will be well looked after while geting the chance to see a cracking bit of countryside and some good competition with some surperb sections.
Mike Kilvert is the man to contact on 01686-610089 or 07975-964068.
Start is at the Cann Office, Llangadfan, near Welshpool (SY21 0PL) and start time is 9.30am.
