Trials Torque: Piccadilly lines up for Kia round
By John Dickinson on 15th Jun 16
THE 2016 KIA National Twin-shock Championship got away to a fantastic start with more than 100 entries attracted to both the Congleton and Golden Valley Classic opening rounds.
And the theme just keeps on running with Round 3, when Zona 1 MCC take centre stage when they take the series reins at Piccadilly Farm, Aggs Hill, Cheltenham (GL54 4ET).
The format will be two laps of 20 sections and multi British Champ Steve Saunders is in charge of the sections.
Steve has plenty of Twin-shock experience (he also won the Pre-65 Scottish) so a great day should be in prospect.
Entries have closed at a mighty 125 spread across all four classes, Historic Spanish, Open Twinshock, Air-cooled mono and Pre-65 (Britshock).
There's both Expert and Clubman courses with the most popular class on both routes being Twinshock.
And the most popular Twinshock machine is definitely Fantic with a mix of 200, 250 and 300 models – and even the odd Fantic 80 as championed by Paul Norman who will be running the round in the Scottish/ English borders at Newcastleton on August 14.
All the usual KIA mob will be in attendance at the Zona1 trial including the Colin Ward's Sr and Jr on TY Yams, Nigel Scott on RTL Honda, Bultaco-mounted Gary Younghusband (below), Gerry Minshall on James, David Braithwaite's Suzuki, Ossy Byers' Cotton, etc, etc.
It will all kick-off at 10.30am.
Why not go and have a look, lots of different machinery and lots of characters riding them.
