Trials Torque: What a KIA Cracker
By John Dickinson on 23rd Mar 16
SO, after much anticipation the opening round of the KIA National Twin-shock series took place at Mow Cop, Congleton, and proved an unqualified success with a mighty 150 entries, and unusually these days, very few entrants failed to turn up.
The various classes were well attended and it was good to see that the Historic twin-shock and air-cooled mono classes each sported larger entries than at the same event last year.
As ever the variety of machines was massive and while Fantics are favourite amongst the Twinshockers and Yamahas in the Air-cooled monos there were plenty of other challengers which is always good to see.
There were even three entries in the suck-it-and-see Under 100cc class and all three finished with Paul Norman achieving untold satisfaction at beating one of his mates!
The entry was particularly satisfying as not a million miles away Yorkshire Classic played host to their Captain's Trial which also boasted 150 entries.
This meant that around 300 Classic and Twinshock riders and machines were in action ‘oop north' last Sunday which is fantastic to report and just shows the interest in nostalgic trials these days.
