World Champions ready to fight for Yorkshire Urban Trial victory
By Team TMX on 19th May 26
Saturday, May 23, sees the Yorkshire market town of Otley become a battleground as the titans of British motorcycle trials – plus some invited overseas guests – scrap it out to become the inaugural Yorkshire Urban Trial Champion.
The exciting new event is hosted by CL Events – the team that delivered a banging 2025 British TrialGP – with a spectator-friendly knockout format that’s easy to understand but most importantly spectacular, as riders take on increasingly more difficult hazards set in six zones during a five-hour show!
Q1 kicks things off with all nine starters riding six sections. A race determines start order, then each rider has eight minutes to complete all hazards. The rider with the highest amount of marks after Q1 is eliminated from the competition, with the remaining eight going to the Semi-Final. This time, riders have five minutes to complete four sections, with the two lowest-performing riders getting culled. Yikes!
A half-time break with youth trials demo and a stunt show leads into the Final – all six competitors start on an equal footing with a race determining start order once again. After three sections, the two riders with the highest marks are eliminated, leaving three to fight for supremacy over the final three sections. By this point, a podium is guaranteed, but that won’t be enough for these guys – the win must be taken at all costs!
Following the trial, it’s party time with live music and DJs pumping into the night.
So, who are the nine riders?
Topping the entry list are local lads Harry and George Hemingway – both are already world champions and headed towards trials superstardom. Jack Peace is another world champion and a proud Yorkshireman, and he will be wanting to win more than anything. Billy Green and Jack Dance are former world champions too, and based on current form, will definitely be in the hunt for victory. Two British youngsters who have great things ahead of them and could well pull off a surprise result on the day are Harry Turner and Harison Skelton – both riders know how to turn on the style and will love putting on a show for the fans.
We’re hoping that overseas invaders Aniol Gelabert and Arnau Farre will bring the Spanish sun with them. Both riders excel in this kind of competition and are no strangers to performing under pressure. Will they understand the Yorkshire dialect? Not a chuffing chance but they’ll appreciate your cheers and jeers nonetheless as they try and plunder victory from under the nose of the locals.
The event runs at Otley Showground, starting at 11am, but get there earlier so you can check out the trade village and perhaps bag an autograph or two.
