Nice finale for X-Trial champs

WITH Toni Bou (Repsol Montesa) already crowned World X-Trial champion for the seventh consecutive year the battle is now on for the 2013 podium placings as the series reaches its fifth and final round in Nice today (Friday, April 12).
Bou has a maximum 80 points – and is gunning for a maximum 100 – but the pressure is really on behind him.
The points standing reads: Adam Raga (Gas Gas)) 43, Cabestany 42 and Jeroni Fajardo (Beta) 39. It is an impossible call as Raga made a poor start to the series and his form has been very shaky while Cabestany, who normally looks so solid, has shown that he too can crack under pressure.
That leaves Beta No.1 Fajardo and Jeroni could just be the one who sneaks under the radar to bag the vice champion's position.
It really does mean a lot to the factory riders but with both Raga and Cabes in the twilight of their careers the younger Beta star would probably benefit the most.
Britain's Jack Challoner gets his last chance to shine Indoors this year and with French promoter Bernard Estripeau in charge of the sections Jack could just get his chance.
Bernard does not normally go for the all-or-nothing Spanish style and the more technical hazards should suit Jack better.
