Trials

The battle of the moors fires up again at remote Hurst where the unique National Mintex Trophy Trial will test the stamina and skills of 53 Class A and B youngsters.

For some reason this two lap race against the clock and 30 sections seems to be again a boys only adventure and provides of taste of just what the Scott Trial is about.

To win that elusive Mintex Trophy the skills have to be directed at strategy. Ride fast, stay on the  machine, and clean the sections. Exactly the same as the Scott Trial.

Nathan Stones and his team have spent time locating sections and avoiding any area that is sensitive. As for the classes Class B features Billy Green who is a class act in the British Trials Championship. He should be sharp but Daniel Slack and Keiran Child are well able to give the Newton mAbbott RCM Beta rider a run for his Money.

Consider also the Michelin tyres up for grabs. The company have again donated three tyres, as they have done mfor several years.

Truro is a long way from Swaledale but Tim Martyn is the chauffeur while son Toby aims not to blow apart his RCM backed Beta. The machine expired in a cloud of steam last year with two miles to go.

The Martin attack will have to be efficient. Last year Fife's Joe Dawson won riding his HLS Beta and set standard time of 2hrs 57m 9sec with Keiran Child taking third place.

Duncan MacColl, Jack Biggins, Scott Aitken, Ben Dignan and Zac Collinson will be the serious threats.

The first competitor startsat 10.30 am and then at 30 second intervals. Only competitors and travelling marshals are permitted on the course, all of which is on private land.
