Sherco's 290 is two good
By TMX Archives on 18th Feb 10
THE 2010 Sherco trials range represents a major milestone in the life of the relatively young Spanish company. The new models represent the first major redesign since the very first Sherco named Bultaco Sherco back then first hit the trials world in 1998.
There's been plenty of development work along the way of course, with new frames, suspension, swinging-arms etc along the way but the 2010 model, with the fuel tank and air-filter having switched positions, and the basic geometry having been totally re-thought to allow for the rear-mounted fuel tank, is a massive jump in evolution, especially in trials terms where major changes are few and far between.
Although there will be a full family of new models, all utilising the same chassis, including 125, 250 and 290 two-strokes plus the 320 four-stroke, the first batch off the production line were 290s. The 125 has since followed but as an initial intro, we got WOODY HOLE out on the big two-stroke in order to get a feel for the 2010 model...
