Report: Central Wales AC- Kia Twin-shock Trials Champs
By Team TMX on 28th Oct 15
What a way to finish the Kia-sponsored 2015 Twin-shock series, with perfect weather, athree-mile lap with 20 sections to be ridden twice over some glorious countryside near to Knighton and a terrific entry.
The hazards were mainly streams with some banks and rockery and while scores were not too high only one rider finished clean – although there were a few other riders pretty close to achieving perfect rides.
With nearly 80 riders the organising CWAC started classes off at different sections which ensured there were no queues anywhere around the course.
The Twin-shock Experts was always likely to be a close run thing with Steve Martin and Richard Allen setting the pace with single-dab first laps.
Steve managed to then go clean as did David Carter an lap two, while Richard had one additional mark which landed him second in class courtesy of furthest clean.
In the Expert Pre-65 class it was pretty well all eyes on Mark Stokes, who was clean as he came to section 20 and clean when he left it, the Trifield man making a textbook ride on the difficult stream exit.
Stokes dropped two on his second lap to take a good win from Ian Peberty who finished on five, his second lap not quite matching his first.
The Expert Spanish group had Dave Wood and Martin Beech tied on 29 each, with Dave getting the verdict this time on most cleans.
The Clubman class was, as-always, well-subscribed and the variety of immaculately-prepared machines was testament to the enthusiasm for this type of series, with hazards marked out for the sportsmen.
Dave Penilley had a clean first lap but Dave Braithwaite was the solitary rider remaining feet up all day to take the class win.
With 10 riders contesting the Spanish Machine Clubman's section it was again going to be a close-run affair.
Owen Hardisty brought his Bultaco round clean on lap one and then he lost just three on lap two, which proved enough for the win, with nearest rival Adrian Kent having to settle for second after having had fewer cleans than Owen.
Mick Parkes took the Clubmans Pre-65 class, chased home by Keith Gardner who may have lost six on lap one but cleaned the second circuit to grab second in front of Tony Bradley.
Keith Wells took his Bantam into fourth even though getting used to him riding machines with rear suspension still takes some getting used to.
