The ever popular Bollihope Common was the venue for the latest North East Centre Championship trial, held by the Weardale Motor Club on Sunday, which attracted 83 starters who faced three laps of 12 sections with the weather just holding off until everyone was finished and packed up for home
Jack Biggins was in fine form on the Expert Route, taking the win on three marks, six less than runner-up Carl Shaw who had an escape in the last section on his first lap, making a miraculous recovery to record a clean on the long stream hazard.
Best
Anthony Stephen pushed Shaw hard all day but had to settle for third on 11.
Alistair Dalton was another doing everything right, going round the Clubman Route without loss.
He had to be at his best as James Black and Gareth Martin were right behind him, both losing one mark in section two on their first lap so could not be separated for second spot.
Kevin Edmundson chose his Bultaco twin-shock for the day and finished top of the Easy Course runners, just one less than Garry Bloodworth, himself one less than Andrew Black
