REPORT: Cotswold Youth & AMX Club
By TMX Archives on 21st Oct 15
The first round of the Cotswold winter series took place near Hereford, where the fast and flowing track bermed up nicely and produced some great high-speed racing in all classes.
AMX and AMX Open classes were combined and the mixture of the classes provided some entertaining racing.
Michael Law took the lead in race one followed by Rob Yates and Kevin Curtain, but Yates passed the stylish Law on lap five to take the win with Curtain in third.
Race two again saw Law take the lead but a mechanical failure on the third lap put him out of contention.
Yates took over top spot, closely followed by Scott Northover and Curtain.
Holland made a charge and came from fifth place to take second at the flag from Northover.
Race three was a holeshot for John Evans but Yates made his move early and took first place on the second lap.
Yates held on to take the win but a race-long battle between Evans, Northover and Holland ensued with Holland taking a fine second from Northover.
In the combined Vets and Novice races Andy Little was the man to beat, taking top spot overall with three wins in the Vets class.
Ben Price took second in race one from Tom May while in race two Little led from start to finish, Jack Robins took a fine second from Price.
Robins took second place in race two after heading Little for four laps, followed by Price and Marriott. Steve Potter had consistent rides in all three races to take second overall in the Vets. Jack Robins took the Novice overall from Marriott and Price.
The Senior class was dominated by Leuan Harris who took three convincing wins in the 250F class. However, Zac Hackett wasn't going to make it easy for him taking the lead in the first two races to grab second overall.
The battle for third overall was mixed between Aaron Checketts, Will Mustoe and Daniel Bartlett.
Bike trouble in race one slowed Bartlett's progress, with Checketts and Mustoe battling for third, Checketts taking the place at the flag.
Race two saw Bartlett, his bike now fixed, take third from Checketts and Mustoe. Race three was another third for Bartlett giving him first overall in the 125 class.
Dominic Lancett showed he is still the BW 85cc rider to beat, securing first and third race wins, but a DNF in race two dropped him out the running for the overall placings.
Consistent second places in all three races gave Luke Howells the overall win.
James Hyett took second overall with consistent finishes.
Close on his heels were Billy Jones, Thomas Garness and Callum Baldwin, with Jones taking third overall.
Close racing was the order of the day for the SW85 class. Carwyn Rosser was dominant taking three wins but had to work to keep Ethan Sills and William Hyett at bay.
Kyle Jones got between them in the third race to take a fine second place, giving him a deserved fourth overall.
Josh Noon also got in the top points in race two with a fine ride to third place.
The fast, flowing track was to the liking of Lewis Roden in the Junior class as he took three wins and looked smooth.
Ben Mustoe also found the fast track suited him, taking three seconds ahead of Rheanna Morgan-Rogers each time.
Auto top dog Jack Evans revelled in the fast conditions and took two excellent wins and a second spot in race three.
Finlay Miller was hot on his heels with two second places and the third race win. Archie Clarke claimed third.
