Report: Spen Valley MCC - Rd 6 Club Championships

Spen Valley MCC held their sixth Club championship trial at Harden Moor on Sunday.
And teenager Keiran Child ran away with the win at sunny Harden Moor.
The Bradford boy – runner-up in the national British Championship Class B age group – lost just four penalties in the ten sections laid out by Paul Hobson.
Occasional competitor Andy Johnson went one better losing two in the penultimate section one on lap one.
Clubman A rivals Martin Beardsall and Rob Bratley had no answer to Johnson, while Mark Chippendale won Clubman B from Honda-mounted Chris Greenwood and Tom Green.
‘Chippers' was one third down on his riding team of Mark Forster and Chris Manby,with the latter not starting on the day.
Falcon fielded William Tolson and Lewis Beardsall, who won Class B and Class C respectively.
The morning dawned foggy but by lunchtime the sun had burnt away the murk high above Keighley and it was obvious that the section flags had been planted in just the right places in what is a jumble of shrubs, bushes and some startlingly deep quarry holes that are daunting from above.
The marks were low all the way down to the Beginner youth categories.
Clubman B winner Chippendale had TLR Honda rider Chris Greenwood right on his case and only stops in sections one and three allowed Chippendale any breathing space.
Half his tally went in dabs on section six, while Joe Child rounded off a family double by winning Class C on the Clubman B route.
Class C boy Lewis Beardsall scored another victory but his father Martin lost out to Johnson in Clubman A.
