MOUNTED on his 450 Suzuki, Chris Cooper won the Pro class at the QRA's first British Quad Endurance event of 2007, the Shakedown, at Ramsdell, Basingstoke, Hants, while lots of the fancied riders faltered with mechanical problems.

This event was a non-championship event designedfor the riders to sort out their race machinery, in a race situation, and for the organisers to sort out any problems with running the seriesbefore the championship starts in ernest next month.

Over 100-riders braved the cold wind to race forfour hours on an interesting track with fast straights and nadgerywooded section hidden away in the hills around Basingstoke.

The riders were sent off in waves to race fortwo-hours round the five-mile course, then after a civilized lunchbrake, another two-hours in the reverse direction, and the man with themost laps cumulatively declared the winner.
