Angel delight for our Dean

IT was finally a night to remember for Dean Wilson, when he bagged the win at Round Five of the AMA & World Supercross Championship at Angel Stadium, Anaheim, at the start of February.
The seventh 250 class victory of Deano's career felt like a huge weight lifted off our shoulders.
To be honest it felt like my first-ever win again and was such a relief.
I can tell you it was long overdue but we had worked so hard for it.
Deano had been showing good form and seemed to be more like his old self.
After being robbed of the win the week before due to an electrical malfunction, it was definitely our time to be on top of the podium.
It meant a lot to the whole team and, more importantly, to Dean.
He was very emotional at one point but he soon got over that when he soaked me with champagne – it stings when you get it in your eyes. Trust me.
That elusive win had put us back in the title hunt and we continued with our programme and went to work the following Monday as usual.
Obviously the talk of the shop was that we had to win at San Diego to keep our title hopes alive.
And I thought that was going to happen.
A holeshot in the main saw Dean pulling away until he had a small crash.
The thing that you guys at home didn't see was that Jason Anderson landed on his bike and it ripped the front disc from the hub and caused all sorts of damage to the caliper.
Dean tried to ride it out but had to make an unscheduled pitstop for me to change the wheel and remove the damaged front brake.
We were back out on track soon enough but a pit-stop in a Supercross race isn't ideal.
So that pretty much ended our chances of any title and left us both in disbelief for the following week.
The worst thing is that we have to wait eight weeks for the chance to race again.
All we can do now is just race for wins and show everyone who is the fastest guy in the class.
With Chad Reed getting hurt at the same race Dean was feeling good and as he had actually been riding pretty well he wanted to try and ride the 450 in a few East Coast races.
The deal was sorted and Dean was off to test the Two2 machine.
It was cool that Mitch wanted me to go along and take a few things to get Dean as comfortable as possible.
