BECKY Cook, British Ladies Trials Champ, left her Isle of Wight home to travel to Yorkshire last week to travel to MRS in Yorkshire in order to pick up a shiny new 2009 Sherco on which she will contest the British and World Ladies Champs plus events like the Scottish Six Days where she will be a very welcome first timer this year.
Becky had no problems with her previous Gas Gas machines but fancied a change which resulted in a factory contract, so impressed was Sherco boss, Marc Tessier, with quiet Becky. After trying 250 and 290 models Becky has gone for the bigger version having been impressed with its strong but smooth power delivery. Last Thursday was about as horrible as it got weatherwise in west Yorks with a cold, wet fog hanging around all day but Becky got in a couple of hours of good, early season practise over rocks.
Said Becky: I really want to have a crack at Laia (Sanz) for the World Championship this year and Sherco, both the factory and Malcolm and Rhoda Rathmell, have offered the kind of back-up that is necessary. I'm really looking forward to 2009.
