THE DirtBike-Traxs crew returned to the famous Butts Quarry venue, in Derbyshire, for the opening round of the National Putoline Winter Hare Scramble Championships.

The course, based on the motocross circuit, sweeps up and down the valley, with woodland and quarry sections all blending in to make a technical course.

With three races to get through in the day, and a full entry, the organisers had to rely on their vast experience and organisational skills to keep the races running on time, a feat they easily achieved despite the poor weather conditions.

Just as the first race was lining up at 8.30am, the heavens opened and turned the track in to a skating rink. The Junior and Senior B Youth riders had a tough time on the shortened Youth course with the race duration set at 60-minutes.

Adam Taylor took the win from Aryton Aldridge with Edward Field third.

In the Junior class, Luke Flack took the top spot from Joe Smith, with Harrison Bell third.

The DBT team had a short interval to switch in the Adult course for the 10am Sportsman and Novice race which, once again, had a full line up eager to take part in the muddy fest.

Billy Robinson, out on a new 125cc Husqvarna, held the lead for the first half-hour before dropping back. As the two-hour race

duration expired, Jordan Botchett emerged to take the Sportsman E1 win, while Thomas Bell claimed the Sportsman Open win on his 200 KTM.

Well done to all the Sportsmen and Novice riders who persevered in the wet conditions.
