IT was a long time in coming but well worth the wait as 12-year-old Lewis Houghton showed on Sunday at Wilden MXC. He enjoyed the moment and celebrated in style with a chequered flag and a big beaming smile to mark his first overall career win.

Up until recent weeks, Lewis had just one individual club race win at Junior level and one at Small-wheel 85cc level to his name. In the last few weeks however, Lewis has upped his game considerably and it came as no real surprise when he nailed the overall win on Sunday going 1-1-1 getting the better of a good quality field of runners that included Robert Yates, David Keet and Danny Lanfear.
For next year, Lewis will be hoping for even more improvement as he battles for the Small-wheel podium positions in the BYMX and Elite Youth Cup nationals.
