KTM Red Bull rider, Taddy Blazusiak, brought his participation in the 2009 US Endurocross Series to a close at the weekend when he placed fifth in the final round staged at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.

The already crowned champion topped his qualifying heat after falling in the first turn but was unable to claim victory in the main event.

Third exiting the first corner, Taddy pushed hard to move into the lead but his hopes of winning were soon ended. Opting to take the inside line around a corner he was struck by one of his rivals, Ricky Dietrich, injuring his knee. Forced to ride nearly the whole event in pain, Taddy eventually finished in fifth, a disappointing result.

Taddy's next event will be the second round of the Indoor Enduro World Cup, which takes place in Genoa on December 5.

Taddy Blazusiak: "Considering how well the rest of the championship went, it's disappointing that things ended with a fifth place result, but I guess that's how it goes sometimes.

‘‘The important thing is that I managed to win the title. That was my goal, and it's great knowing that I achieved that. The evening started pretty well with getting the second fastest time during the hot lap session. I made one small mistake so I was happy with that. My heat race was a good workout. I went down in the first corner and had to push really hard after that. I managed to come back from last to win so I knew I was riding well.

"I felt good ahead of the final. A lot of people were talking about the money that I could win, but I really just wanted a good result to end the championship well.

‘‘It's not how I wanted to end the series but there's not much I can do about it now. I head back to Europe soon, so I'll be busy in the coming weeks getting ready for the World Indoor Enduro Cup race in Italy.”
