BMW pleased to join in WEC fun

THE big news in Spain as far as the Enduro 2 class is concerned was the arrival of German manufacturers BMW. Officially unveiling their 450 sports enduro bike at the event, development rider Sascha Eckert and former motocross world champion Joel Smets gave the bike its first WEC outing with both riders scoring world championship points on day one.

With BMW keen to point out that their participation in the event hadlittle to do with wanting to achieve winning results, the developmentof the bike in high level competition was very much the reason thatEckert and Smets were competing.

On day one things went well for the two riders with Smets placing in13th and Eckert 15th. On day Smets was forced to withdraw from theevent due to an electrical problem while Eckert went on to finish in17th, much to the BMW staff's delight.
