BVM, the mega trials emporium down in Stroud, Glos, staged its popular annual trials test day last week at a new venue and as usual the day was a roaring success. Despite the cold weather, a good turnout of trials riders converged on the venue where ALL the trials importers had gathered to display and put up for test the full range of their wares and so you could try Gas Gas, Sherco, Beta, Scorpa and Montesa back-to-back, if you wished. Obviously many did, from the experienced local aces to relative beginners, as BVM bossman, Mark Kemp, informs us that no less than 400 test rides were packed into the hours of daylight.
No prizes for guessing that the brand new Beta EVO was the most sought-after machine amongst the fans if for no other reason than it is indeed a brand new model. But there was no shortage of takers for the new Gasser or the Sherco, Mont and Scorpa. The 2009 Scorpas have yet to land but Nigel Birkett had a couple of the Special Edition Anniversary bikes, in two-stroke and four-stroke guise.
All in all it was another well worthwhile exercise from the BVM boys and girls which kept everyone, riders and importers alike happy here's to next year!
