Winner of the famous Patchquick Trophy in 2009, Tom Church, who has been out with an injured finger for some weeks, is hoping to return to racing in time for the 60th running of the Patchquick Trophy meeting next Wednesday, June 30, at Whiteway Barton.

There is plenty of cash on offer with 400 for a win in each of the three races and cash paid down to tenth as well as the Trophy to the overall winner which is worth well over 20,000. It's a piece of silverware that everybody wishes to win to get their name inscribed on it along side many legends from the past like Geoff Ward who won it back in 1951 on an AJS, John Tribble in 1960 on a BSA, Dave Bickers in 1966 on a CZ, Bryan Goss who has won it four times in 1963 on a Greeves, 1967 on a Husqvarna and 1973 & 74 on a Maico plus many others, and of course local Cullompton-based Dave Thorpe who has had his name inscribed on it five times in total in 1982, '83, '86, '87 and more recently in 2003.

This year the event has attracted many of Britain's finest racing talent including 2009 British MX2 Champion, Stephen Sword, locally sponsored Phoenix Tools rider Jason Dougan along with young team-mate Luke Norris, Mark Eastwood, American Ryan Blizzard, Scott Elderfield, Alex Snow, 2009 Remedies Bar Champion John May, current South West Premier MX1 leader Luke Hill, Premier MX2 leader Luke Mellows plus many others.

Whiteway Barton has had a bit of a revamp over the winter months and is now run in the opposite direction and has had tons of soil added to prepare the track to its finest.

The circuit has easy access and excellent viewing and will be signposted off the A380 Exeter to Newton Abbot road with admission just 5 per Adult, Children free with the first race at 6.30pm.
