Dougie took a break!

LAST weekend saw the 11th annual Dougie Lampkin Trials School' converge at Addingham Moorside, high above the town of Silsden. This event was once again over subscribed, with the lucky few, including myself, being treated to an action packed riding day. Unfortunately, the main man, Dougie, was sidelined due to a broken bone in his hand, and so he was unable to provide any demonstrations. He was, however, on hand to provide his expert coaching and guidance through the sections.
Alongside Dougie, there was a star-studded line-up, including former World Junior and European Champion James Dabill, former World Champion and Dougie's minder, Martin Lampkin and last but not least, former World and European Youth Champion, Jack Challoner.
Once again, the weather was kind at Addingham and everyone was treated to a blistering day which began with a brief introduction, followed by a simple section to split the group into two. It was then down to business with the groups separating and heading off with their coaches to tackle some sections.
As lunch time came, everyone was ready to re-fuel at the fantastic BBQ on offer, courtesy of Red Bull, and mingle with their mentors. Then it was swiftly back on the bikes and, with a swap over of mentors, everybody headed out for the afternoon's training.
As the day drew to a close, it was time for James Dabill and Jack Challoner to show us what they do best as they put on a fantastic display of riding which ended with James doing a leap of faith over an angled rock and up onto the summit!
All in all, a great day out in perfect weather conditions, one that I would recommend for anyone, regardless of their age or
ability.
