The international extreme enduro season is about to kick off this weekend, with the second running, and largely updated, edition of Ales Trem extreme enduro in France.

Following a highly successful first running last January the French extreme enduro will host the sport's international elite that'll battle next to top French talent in a 400-rider strong entry list.

Making his first outdoor appearance for the new season KTM's Jonny Walker will aim to repeat his winning performance from last year. Once again the Cumbrian will face strong opposition from Husqvarna's Graham Jarvis, in top form after wrapping up 2015 with victory at The Roof of Africa.

With the likes of Alfredo Gomez, Wade Young, Mario Roman and David Knight also on the starting line, the event is promising to deliver an early-season shakedown ahead of a thrilling extreme enduro season.

The updated prologue day on Saturday, January 23, will feature a morning qualification test at the nearby Pole Mecanique circuit before concluding with the night-time final Endurocross event in the city as before.

Once again Sunday's main event will start and finish at Pole Mecanique.

This time though, riders won't return there each lap around.

Instead they will be following a short connecting section before reaching the main extreme enduro loop, set to be ridden four times.

The use of an additional quarry has been secured to offer more spectacular rock sections and climbs.

On arrival back into Pole Mechnique riders will face a difficult final section before reaching the finish line.
