THE British enduro scene is set to welcome an exciting new series for 2010 as the ACU has given the go ahead for an action packed, six round, British Enduro Sprint Championship. Making the UK the first country within Europe to feature an enduro sprint championship, the BESC as it will be known will compliment the existing British Enduro Championship while injecting new life into the UK's enduro scene.

ACU sanctioned, ensuring an official British Enduro Sprint Champion, the new series will feature six rounds, run over three weekends. During the first year, events will take place on the last weekend of March, April and May.

A maximum of 100 riders will compete at each event, with the 25 fastest competitors earning their place in the prestigious Elite class.

Each round of the BESC will feature one special test of six to ten

minutes in length, raced numerous times, prepared to the highest standards and incorporating traditional enduro grass tracks as well as a mixture of motocross and extreme sections.

All events will feature transponder timing. Each day of the championship will be filled with special test action, ensuring first class competition and spectacular racing.

Any rider that enjoys the competitive side of enduro sport and the challenges special test racing brings will benefit from competing in the British Enduro Sprint Championship.

The BESC hopes to attract an exciting mix of established ‘named' enduro competitors, up-and-coming and ambitious youngsters, proven Championship and Expert talents and mix it with top-flight motocross and trials riders keen to try their hand at something new.

John Collins, chairman of the ACU Trials and Enduro Committee: "Although the concept of Enduro Sprint events is an extremely new one, the ACU is fully behind this new series. We believe the events will offer a number of benefits to enduro riders in the UK and also the British enduro scene in general. We hope that it will attract riders that haven't before tried enduro.

‘‘The instant display of special test times, well thought out course, and slick running of the Putoline Oils Elite Sprint Enduro – the UK's first enduro sprint event – impressed the ACU. Together with the traditional British Enduro Championship the British Enduro Sprint Championship will ensure year-long ACU-governed national championship enduro events.”

Full details of the rules will be finalised by the ACU during November. Venues will be announced in the coming weeks.
