THE EMG Muntjac Enduro kicks off the first round of the Metzeler ACU British Enduro Championship on Sunday, February 22, at Thetford Forest, Suffolk. The organising club Diss MCC and long term event sponsor, EMG Motor Group, were delighted when entries to the event were completely full within four days of opening.
The entry list has quality as well as quantity with 36 riders capable of taking the honours in the Championship class. The Expert, Clubmen and Veteran classes also have excellent line-ups. To keep everyone on their toes the check times will become tighter as the day goes on so it will be the fittest riders that will make the final time control and remain clean on time.
Soft sandy terrain makes up the 23-miles of the Muntjac course which is rideable in all weather conditions. This is one of the attractions of the event as riders know they will get value for money in terms of time spent in the saddle as opposed to stuck in mud.
Number of laps will depend on the class of rider but normally the Championship riders will complete six laps of the course with times becoming tighter throughout the day, giving very little time for rest.
Big names taking part in this tough enduro include current British Enduro Champion Tom Sagar, GNCC Champion, former World and British Enduro Champion David Knight, plus
former World Enduro Champion, Paul Edmondson.
For fans who want to see their heroes in action the start area is along Ride 24 just north of Brandon on the A1065 Brandon to Mundford road.
