Graham calls it a day

THROUGHOUT the country there is a dedicated band of people, quietly running trials, putting the sport before their own interests. One such individual is Graham Harrison who has finally retired from doing just that, ending 33 years of being closely involved with the running of Birmingham Motor Cycle Club events.

Graham has reluctantly but definitely called it a day due to the combination of old age (his words not mine) and the dwindling number of club helpers available. He originally picked-up the organisation of the National Victory Trial along with Bob Light in1976. This was after the well documented problem with the British Experts in 1975.

During the last 33 years The Victory has been run mainly in the Knighton area and has boasted British Championship status for both Solo and Sidecars. More recently it has been an integral part of the Novogar Solo Championship.

The other major event Graham has been heavily involved in is the British Experts. Anyone who witnessed the Steve Saunders domination of this trial when held at Hawkstone Park, well before it became a World Championship venue, will have great memories.

Graham and the BMCC would like to thank the Central Wales Auto Club and the Mid Wales Centre for their help and co-operation during this period. The Victory's legacy continues however as it is being picked up by the Bewdley Club who are once again running the event as a Novogar round on Sunday, April 25.

On a personal note to Graham: I am sure that many riders would like to thank you for a host of superb events and T+MX are well aware that the Gas Gas will be getting many more long distance trials outings next season. Time to let someone else put those flags in!
