Griffen takes his first adult victory

THE final Buildwas Leisure Quad and Junior Solo Enduro of the year took place on Saturday. The superb Buildwas track had a few extra wooded sections added, just to make things interesting. Two races were planned, each lasting for two-hours, a departure from the usual Moto-duro format of one-hour races with a break in between.
The track was a little slippery to start with but, as the first race progressed, the slick surface wore off and there was plenty of traction. Some of the off-camber sections in the woods provided plenty of entertainment as the Adult Quads scrabbled across the slopes on full opposite lock though only a minority actually got stuck and even then that was near the start of the race.
Having moved up from the Junior ranks, Ryan Griffin had his first race with the Adults and he blasted around to take the overall win just ahead of Jason Lowe in second. Both riders put in an amazing 23 laps apiece, quite a feat considering the conditions in the woods at the start of the event. Pete Hockley was a lap down in third spot with Steve Wilson in fourth and Mike Wilson in fifth, both on 21 laps.
The Junior Quads and Solo riders had a better time of it thanks to the Adult riders clearing the course for them. They appeared to be going as fast, if not faster, than the adults in places and certainly didn't have any trouble blasting through the woods.
Jonathon Jones took the Solo class with 17 laps to his credit. He was way out in front of nearest rival, Jack Lewis, in second. Kieran Quinn did well to take third spot in his first ever Enduro competition.
Scott Linley took the Junior Quad win on 17 laps while second placed Tyler Soar was only minute behind on 16 laps. Luke Forrest clung on to third despite a challenge in the closing stages from Brad Cranwell in fourth, both on 15 laps.
No incidents in either race saw the whole event finish in good time with plenty of daylight left to for the drive home.
