Hard at work!
By John Dickinson on 19th Aug 11
Guisborough DMC's well-known John Hardaker National Trophy Trial runs this Sunday at Mountain Ash Farm, Glaisdale, in east Yorks.
Hard by name, hard by nature, this trial became a must ride event through the 1990s with the cream of the country's top men vying for honours. Resurrected last year after an absence of nine years, due to the loss of land, Beta UK rider Ian Austermuhle was the first name back on the famous trophy.
'Austy' will be keen to hang on to his crown, but will face stiff opposition from the likes of Liam Walker, the Richmond club Sherco mounted lads Richard Sadler and Jonathan Richardson plus rock-steady riders John Crinson and British Championship B class contenders Richard Timperley, Guy Kendrew and Adam Milner – fresh from his recent Brimham Rocks win – then add Scarborough likely lads Simon Kershaw and Ossa mounted James Carr, both on form at present, plus Whitby's finest Andy Chilton.
A strong Intermediate class includes Dave Pye, Mark Harrison and Stuart Tate, all former East York Champions, Karl Dodderidge, Phil Mayfield and Ian Hopley, all fired-up for a win on home soil, it should be a cracking day's competition for the entire entry.
The start will be signposted from the A171 Whitby to Guisborough Moor road with the start time a bright and breezy 9 30am.
There's easy parking, all off-road for all competitors and spectators and there's a refreshment van and toilets on site.
