THE waiting is almost over and the excitement is certainly building! The fifth edition of one of the best extreme enduros in the world is just over a week away. The awesome WOR Events Tough One (T1) is here. The daunting Nantmawr Quarry in Oswestry, Shropshire will be the home to the event for the fifth and final time and the action and quality will be guaranteed in bucket loads on Saturday, January 17. The world's number one off-road rider, David Knight will be out aiming to take his fifth T1' title in a row on his new factory 450 BMW. While some people are doubting the huge Manxman on the big four-stroke enduro bike rather than his previous two-stroke extreme mount only a fool would bet against the mammoth skills and strength of Knighter' taking the honours.
However, trying to stop DK' is a whole multitude of world level riders that will be looking to take the winner takes all' 2,000 Pro prize purse and relieve DK' of his T1 crown.
KTM's factory extreme star, Taddy Blazusiak will be out to go one better than his runner-up position last year. Taddy, the polish superstar, will be fired up and ready for the challenge, of that there is no doubt, and with the ability and determination of this young man, anything could happen.
Throw into the mix, established extreme stars like Wayne Braybrook (Gas Gas) a T1 podium regular and four times World Champion, Paul Edmondson (Suzuki), current British Enduro champion, Tom Sagar (Husaberg), and the rest of the cream of UK enduro stars and you get to see why this event has grown in stature to be one of the best of its nature in the world.
Another big plus for the spectators is the appearance and UK Extreme debut of none other than 12-times World Trials Champion, Dougie Lampkin.
Now Dougie has decided not to ride the Speed Trial. He will be on a factory Beta 4T Enduro bike in the main event and will be looking to start his Extreme Enduro career off with a bang and a top result. With his undoubted skills and new drive, the Beta star will be one to watch.
The anticipated bumper crowd will have lots to keep them excited and entertained throughout the day as the Clubman race in the morning precedes the Gas Gas UK Speed Trial around noon and is followed by the main event at around 1pm.
