It's giving Back to charities

DARWEN MC&CC held its Christmas trial on Sunday, December 6, but before the trial got underway the club took a few minutes to present two cheques, the proceeds of two separate charity trials.
In early September the club held its annual Jim Sandiford Memorial trial, where 728 was raised for The Christie Charity. The club would particularly like to thank John Whittle for stepping in at the last moment offering the use of Back Cowm Quarry, when the news came that the club could not run at their planned venue. Cowm Leisure also kindly donated their usual venue charge to the Christie Charity.
Later in September, after the sad death of Ann Isherwood, Darwen decided to run another charity trial to raise money for Cancer Research UK. This was well attended and between riders, friends and family of Ann, 675 was raised. Thanks to Mr Atkinson of Readwood Stables, the venue of the trial, who generously donated 200.
The club made the decision to increase the amounts raised to 1000 for each charity.
At the presentation John Whittle kindly donated a further 200, divided between the two charities, the final amount to be given to the Cancer Research UK and The Christies is 1100 respectively.
A big well done to the hard-working guys and gals of the Darwen club.
