It's Lakes time!

OCTOBER is a big trials month in Britain with the final round of the British Championship (last week) and the Scott Trial (next week), while this weekend sees the Lakes Two Day National take place in the Lake District, based on the market town of Broughton-in-Furness, and playing host to a full entry of 174 riders! There's double the interest this year as the event didn't happen last year as a precaution against the Foot and Mouth scare. Two recently crowned British champs, Graham Jarvis (Sherco) and Joe Baker (Scorpa), head the entry list which has plenty of quality as well as quantity with Italian trials champ James Dabill bringing the TRW Montesa. Stir-in challengers like fellow Mont man Alexz Wigg, the mob-handed Gas Gas attack of Shaun Morris, Dan Thorpe, Ross Danby and Sam Haslam and these are just a few of the riders contesting the National course.

It's anyone's guess who will top the massive Clubman class with strong challenges sure to come from all over the UK.

Riders face two cracking days of road based courses taking in tracks and open fell with a variety of sections based on Lakeland becks and rock outcrops. There will be 40 hazards to face each day. Start time will be 9pm on both Saturday and Sunday so clear heads please lads!

For spectators, the first thing to do is buy a programme and follow the instructions. Please do NOT try and get to the sections that are prohibited to spectators. Bear in mind that most of the roads are narrow, if not single track, so please park sensibly.

There's plenty to see on both days with Saturday starting out with an early group just down the road at Foxfield before you set out for old-favourites Station Hill and Wallenrigg. NO spectating at Paddy's Wood please.

Sunday starts out with the old faithful Dunnerdale start after which most spectators will make their way over to the Broughton - Torver road and make for Souterstead and then Rosthwaite.
Have a great weekend – and then read all about it in T+MX next week along with a selection of Eric Kitchen's finest piccies.
