It’s time to hit the road
By TMX Archives on 30th Nov 12

Its been a fairly busy few weeks for me.
As most of you may be aware I'm riding for Honda next year and am also heavily involved in the new Dave Thorpe Honda off-road center.
My appearance at the Dirt Bike Show was to let people know about my involvement with Honda and explain a bit about the
Off-Road Ride days.
I will be racing mx2 British championship and MX2 Red Bull Pro Nationals in 2013.
Honda were keen for a mx2 rider and I was too, so it worked out very well for us all.
The Off-Road Ride Days will take up a lot of my time – they start in around February at our off-road centre near Pontyprid in Wales and run right through to October.
As an instructor I will need a road bike licence, something I don't have at the moment.
Last week I started my bike lessons and my theory is booked for December 3, so all being well I should pass before Christmas.
Most nights are taken up learning the highway code, I've forgotten most of that stuff since my driving test.
At the Show I spent some time on the Fox stand, as those guys are looking after me again next year along with my long-standing relationship with Oakley.
It's great to have the support of these big companies.
I'm now three weeks into my winter training. It's good to be focusing on a new challenge and I feel hungry for the 2013 season.
Along with Dave there are a couple ofothers who will be a big influence in my preparation over the winter and that will continue into the race season.
It's imperative to have people in yourcorner pushing you and helping you at all times.
I will be attending the motorcycle show at the NEC, again just to be around the Honda stand and promote the off-road days.
I did a small test on the new Honda 250f at Apex a few weeks ago and a tested a few race parts for next year.
First impressions were good and with the hard work from the team over the upcoming months I think we will be in great shape come the race season.
With Christmas rapidly approaching the weeks soon fill up and it won't be long before the front wheel is behind the start gate again.
I've not done any shopping yet, Ayrton has pretty much said he wants everything in the toy book – so I will have to shorten that list.
Christmas is great with the kids, so we are all pumped up here.
Catch up next time.
