JACK Challoner was on a mission to reassert his authority in Youth A after his slip at the previous round when the Isle of Wight MCC hosted round six of the British Youth A&B Trials Championship at the excellent Duxmore Quarry.
With a format of four-laps of a 12-section coursewith a six-hour time limit a long hot day's sporting action awaited allof the riders. However, there was music laid on courtesy of the popfestival with some 30,000 party-goers right next door to the venue.
In Youth A class, Challoner found the dry grippyconditions to his liking, taking the premier award losing just 11 markswith laps of 4-1-4-2.
Ben Morphett from Herne Bay pushed Challoner allthe way. Going into the last lap Morphett was just two-marks adrift buta final lap of four marks wasn't quite good enough and he had to settlefor runner-up spot on the day with a total of 15.
The final podium spot was a four-fight betweenJonny Walker, Jon Richardson, Adam Jones and Jon Chambers. BothRichardson and Chambers were off the pace during the opening two lapsas Jones and Walker matched each others scores. However, as the trialmoved into the final two laps Richardson got his act together, postingsingle-digit lap scores. It wasn't enough to overhaul Walker who tookthird by five mark's from Richardson who in turn was just one markahead of Jones and Chambers.
