THE first round of the 2007 YMSA Trials Champion-ship, the Talon Trophy Trial, was held on Sunday at Dudwood Farm, North East Derbyshire and, despite recent heavy rain the day, was blessed with good weather and over 100 riders signed-on for the trial.

Before the start, the clerk of the course, Barry Burton, talked to allregarding the rules for the championship. The riders and observersagreed to the use of FIM rules, allowing a stop and sideways movementwhen stationary.

On the Youth A route, Jack Challoner was in a class of his own with anopening lap of just five marks lost whilst his nearest rival Adam Joneslost 16 and eventual third place Ben Morphett recorded 19. Jack wasconsistent, dropping just six on his second lap as Adam lost 16, butdespite doubling his lap score to 12 on his final circuit, Jack was acomfortable winner losing less than half the marks of Adam.

Section five was the bogey for all the A class riders with its massiverock climb claiming a full set of fives for all riders except Jack,Adam and Jonny Walker.

Youth A: Jack Challoner 23 marks lost, Adam Jones 49, Ben Morphett 59.

Youth B: Jack Sheppard 18, Richard Sadler 50, Tom Bleasdale 59.

Youth C: Luke Walker clean, Jack Stones 3, Robert Waite 8.

Youth D: Dan Peace 18, Thomas Minta 30, Michael Todd 38.

Ladies: Joanne Coles 48, Emma Bristow 73, Hanna Styles 79.

Expert: Lee Sampson 15, Lee Whelan 84, Joshua Law 141.

Inter: Matt Spink 44, Andres Cook 74, Sean Isherwood 82.

Adult Novice: Carl Dickenson 27, Ross Law 37, Matt Powdrell 42.

Youth Novice: Ben Butterworth 22, Katy Bullock 29, Conner Price 31.
