THE DirtBike Traxs Crew spent two weeks preparing the Ellington Banks venue for the weekend's off-road extravaganza, the final round of the Putoline Winter Hare Scramble Championship.
The course layout was much changed from previous events with new routes cut through scrub and bridges erected across the ditches to avoid damage. The weather, for once, was mild and sunny which made a very pleasant change from the previous two ‘winter' rounds.
The weekend commenced with a DirtBike Traxs Training Day. The training was led by Justin Wilson and Graham Jarvis and it was run in
conjunction with a Honda CRF250X tryout which gave riders a chance to test the machine in pretty tough conditions.
As the training finished, the Youth riders were preparing to start their race. Senior A rider, Michael Briggs, took an early lead on his trick Honda CR125 and was pushed hard early on by Josh Bendall, Josh Taylor and Liam Ward.
The Senior race win went to Michael Briggs from Josh Bendall with Josh Taylor in third. In Senior B, for the small-wheeled machines, Joe Deakin took the win in front of Billy Robinson and Craig Hancock. All completed six laps.
