Colunists

ONE of the greatest dangers for sportsmen is dehydration. Individual solutions have appeared from time to time in extreme situations, but the Swedish firm USWE, founded just two-years ago, now offers a professional solution. Since the start of the GP season, Shaun Simpson has been experimenting with the Swedish product, which attaches to the external part of the Leatt Brace: It's not so much a matter of drinking as sipping occasionally to stop your mouth drying up. It's a tremendous help in hot, dusty conditions.
The contents of the half litre bag, a kind of miniature hot water bottle, flow to the mouth via a series of short tubes, which can be attached to the helmet and thus permit easy use with all headwear.
Karl-Johann Engdahl of the firm USWE, based in Kristianstad, southern Sweden, explained: We have worked closely with Leatt on the fitting, and we also now have a version for David Philippaerts to test on his Alpinestar brace. We also have a vest style version which Max Nagl will try soon.
Our firm was founded two years ago and we also supply the Swedish enduro riders Anders Eriksson and Joakim Lunggren. Our first system was developed for runners who train in the forests a popular pastime in Sweden and we have also found a good response from cross-country skiers.
